Alphataraxia Management (ATX) is a fast-growing investment management group with offices in Newport Beach and Washington DC. We focus on understanding and predicting outcomes on electricity grids, where our positions can have a significant impact on real-world outcomes: helping to stabilize energy prices and encourage the adoption of renewable power sources. Regardless of your specific background, if you have a genuine enthusiasm for solving complex problems and an interest in energy, you might be a great fit for our team.

A little more about us:

  • we play with vast amounts of data and turn our findings into actionable trading decisions
  • we try to explain how things work both fundamentally and quantitatively
  • we build all our own proprietary tools, enabling us to prototype, iterate quickly, and pivot when necessary
  • we use analysis techniques including, but not limited to, linear regression and machine learning
  • we automate as many redundant processes as possible to maximize time spent on analysis
  • we take risk very seriously and thoroughly vet every investment strategy
  • we move quickly with minimal bureaucracy and a high level of ownership
  • we believe strongly in the value of maintaining a variety of perspectives and experiences within our team

You should:

  • be comfortable with numbers and rigorous quantitative analysis
  • derive a high level of satisfaction from solving challenging problems
  • enjoy doing something new and slightly different almost every day
  • be relatively independent and self-motivated
  • be familiar with basic coding concepts such as those taught in an intro computer science class
  • enjoy working in a respectful and collaborative team environment

We welcome applications from motivated rising juniors, rising seniors and master’s students approaching their final year of school. The role will involve a tremendous amount of learning about the complexities of the energy landscape. You will also gain exposure to elements of data science, software engineering, portfolio management, and risk mitigation. Our on-the-job training and mentoring will prepare you for a rewarding and successful summer.

Historically, our internship program has run 10-12 weeks. We will coordinate exact start and end dates with accepted candidates.

If you could see yourself excelling in this position, we encourage you to apply! Please also submit any undergraduate (and/or graduate) transcripts. Please email careers [@] with any additional materials or questions.

(Please note that we can only extend offers to students that are authorized to work in the US; we are unable to sponsor H-1B applications.)
